An unintended expat blogger behind Sun Frame Harbor

Hi there, I'm Mila
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent. An expat based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Several years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
Origins of Our Move
Moving to Netherlands wasn't in our original plan for the long haul. Like many international relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The first several months were demanding — adapting to new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday chores felt tougher than expected.
The Adjustment Period
Culture shock, unease, and plenty of hands-on learning were part of it. Yet gradually routines fell into place. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began shaping something that felt secure.
Why I Built Sun Frame Harbor
Much of the online content leaned toward corporate relocation strategies or shallow travel material. What was lacking was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that void — actionable guidance drawn from real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Is (And Is Not)
This site IS:
- Hands-on experience from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated only when something meaningful changes
This site ISN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Netherlands continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Mila
